Sherri was born and raised in West Covina and is a lifelong resident. She is the fourth of five children born to John and Muriel Lane. Her parents moved to West Covina in 1954 and were active participants in the community and took pride in raising their family here. Their sense of values, commitment and service was instilled in Sherri by the example they set.
For the past 17 years Sherri has actively served this great city of West Covina.
Appointed to the Personnel Commission in 1994 and subsequently the Planning Commission in 2000, Sherri was elected to the City Council in November 2005. Councilmember Lane feels it is vital to protect and continue public safety services at the highest level. Providing seniors with quality programs and affordable housing is essential to the community. She believes it is important to provide and improve the youth programs, as they are the future.
Sherri is very proud of the many projects and programs that she has supported to benefit the community, including: New public safety radio system; placement of automatic external defibrillators at City facilities; installation of inpavement flashing light crosswalks at schools across West Covina; millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements across the community (new streets, curb & gutters, sidewalks, ADA ramps, new trees, etc.); expansion and new walking paths at Shadow Oak Park; investments in our Senior Center and numerous parks throughout West Covina; and helped bring in many new businesses and restaurants to our shopping centers, especially Westfield Shopping Center, Big League Dreams, and The Heights.
"I will always place the residents of West Covina first and foremost, be accessible, and work hard to address your issues. Together we will insure West Covina remains the finest city in the San Gabriel Valley."
Sherri Lane
