Rob was raised in West Covina and attended the West Covina Unified School District. He has lived in the City of West Covina almost his entire life. Rob raised his family here and feels that West Covina is a wonderful city to reside in. He first became involved with the community and youth while coaching his children. Rob began serving as Board Member for various sports leagues. He was Coach and President of West Covina Bruins, West Covina Girls Softball, West Covina Youth Pony Basketball, Orangewood Pony Colt Baseball, and Board Member of West Covina Youth Pony Baseball. He was also involved with school booster groups serving on the boards of Football, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, and Cheerleading while his children attended West Covina High School. Over the years, Rob has been involved with many other organizations, such as President of the Democratic Club of the San Gabriel Valley, Commander of American Legion Post 790, President of the West Covina Rose Float Foundation, and West Covina Sports Council.
Rob feels that the youth are our most important resource and best opportunity for a strong future. Opportunities should be available for all citizens no matter what age. He believes that a well-planned community promotes strong and vibrant neighborhoods. Rob feels that a safe community provides a sense of security. He would like to focus on public safety. West Covina needs to continue to be a full-service city offering residents and businesses the benefit of complete public services (Police, Fire, Planning, Public Works and Building, Parks and Recreation). Rob wants to work on promoting a vibrant economy. He would like West Covina to facilitate economic opportunities for all citizens and businesses. West Covina needs to foster partnerships with employers and businesses assisting with recruitment and retention to continue to see economic growth.
Rob Sotelo has been involved in our city for many years and has been committed to make West Covina a better place for all. He is honored to be appointed to the City Council and will continue to serve and support his city as he has over the past 30 years.
