Paul Segalla Fire Chief
Department Budget Information The West Covina Fire Department proudly serves the citizens of our community. The Fire Department is responsible for fire suppression, emergency medical aid, fire prevention, and community life safety education programs.
The City maintains five fire stations strategically located throughout the City. Staffing five paramedic engine companies and one ladder truck, the Fire Department requires that twenty-four, highly trained, fire fighters be on duty every day of the year.
In the event of a major emergency or incident, the Fire Department can call upon other local fire departments for assistance. Resources include medi-vac helicopters, hazardous materials teams, swift water rescue teams, Urban Search and Rescue Teams and additional units that can be utilized to better serve the community.
In the event of major emergencies outside of our boundaries, the City of West Covina Fire Department is proud to provide resources to help other communities in need throughout California.
The Fire Department also works closely with our area schools to provide the Urban Survival Schools program. The Urban Survival programs allow fire fighters to work closely with teachers to teach young children the principles of basic safety. We also provide anyone the opportunity to observe and participate in several demonstrations and station tours that are conducted throughout the year.
The West Covina Fire department continues to operate a progressive department that encourages community participation and involvement.
