BUILDING MAINTENANCE LEADWORKER
Job Summary
Under general supervision, coordinates, supervises, and works with assigned staff in the cleaning and maintenance of public buildings; performs a variety of general maintenance repairs and modifications; performs related work as required.
Essential Functions
- Oversees and coordinates the work of custodians assigned to building maintenance.
- Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties as part of a building maintenance team including electrical, carpentry, painting, and general plumbing repair.
- Maintains and performs routine maintenance of heating and air conditioning units.
- Estimates time, materials and costs associated with general maintenance modifications and repairs.
- Prepares and submits reports of work in progress and completed projects.
- Enforces safety standards, the safe and proper use of tools and equipment, and assures assigned staff are following procedures.
- Prepares performance evaluations for assigned staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge and Ability
Knowledge of all facets of general building maintenance including basic working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry mechanical and electrical repair; methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work; ability to organize and coordinate the work of others; repair and maintain tools; read and understand project plans.
Experience: Two years of experience in building maintenance involving the use of a variety of tools and light power equipment and general building repair.
License: A valid California Class C driver's license, and a satisfactory driving record.
Working conditions: Must be able to perform manual labor associated with general maintenance work including lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds, climbing, bending, stooping, and crawling.
