This is a part-time position without benefits and works up to 30 hours a week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED or equivalent is desirable. Prior or current participation in school sports or other recreational activities required. Include a list of school sports or recreation activities on the application, or a separate sheet of paper may be attached to the completed application. Those under the age of 18 without a high school diploma must have a work permit prior to the first day of employment. Those working at a day care center must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
DUTIES
Under general supervision, assists in planning, organizing and conducting of adult and children's recreational activities, and does related work as required. Interacts with and assists in the supervision of youth in games and activities and in the proper use of playground and equipment apparatus; sets up and moves equipment; takes registration and attendance; gives out routine information; handles attendance, inventory and other records; assists in maintenance and cleaning up of city facilities; acts as a positive role model to youth; may perform other duties in support of the Community Services Department as assigned including but not limited to: city-wide events, day care, youth and adult sports teen programs, recreation classes, aquatics, facility management, senior citizen programs, and other related services.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates meeting the minimum requirements will have their qualifications screened and those candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in an oral interview.

Apply to the City of West Covina Human Resources Department. A City Application is required and must be submitted before the closing date. Postmarks will NOT be accepted. Qualified candidates will be notified at a later time with the date and place of the examination.
Under the City's examination procedure, failure on any part of the announced examination will be grounds for disqualification of an applicant.
Applicants requiring special accommodations for testing must notify the Human Resources Department prior to test administration consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Prior to the first day of employment, selected candidates will be required to pass a physical exam and will be fingerprinted.
