Composting Workshop



On Saturday June 26th, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m.
the City of West Covina will host this year’s last FREE Smart Gardening Composting Workshop
at the West Covina Senior Center located at 2501 E. Cortez St.
Learn to reduce yard waste and improve your lawn and garden. Get step by step instructions on how to compost, and learn about the benefits and biology. This hour and half beginning workshop provides hands-on instruction on composting, worm composting, grasscycling, and water-wise and fire-wise gardening. West Covina residents will be able to purchase a Compost Bin at a subsidized rate with reservations. Some restrictions may apply. Compost bins make it easy to recycle your yard trimmings and kitchen scraps at home.  West Covina residents can purchase a compost bin at a subsidized rate after attending a free Smart Gardening Composting Workshop in the area.  Subsides rates for compost bins are:

*        A backyard compost bin:  $ 25.00.  

*        A Worm compost bin:       $ 30.00.                                                  

*        Coconut Coir Bricks:           $ 2.50/each.      

(Please bring I.D.  or utility bill showing proof of West Covina residency and proof that you attended a Smart Gardening Workshop to receive your discounted rate. Limit one bin of each style per household.)
