Welcome to the Community and Recreation Services Department

The Community Services Department provides for the protection and enhancement of City parks, recreation facilities, and community services. Our program is designed to promote physical, emotional and social well being for your child. In addition, we believe that the children in our care will develop a positive confident concept of themselves as worthwhile individuals and as able learners. Activities we offer include homework time, snack time, arts, crafts, recreation activities, and off-site excursions. Additional information can be located on the Day Care page on our web site.

Community Outreach Services

The Department helps provide needed services to residents in the community who may be low income, homeless, physically or mentally challenged, elderly, or non-English speaking. These services are offered to help residents improve their independence and quality of life. Arrangements are generally made to bring representatives from outside agencies into the community; however, the Department also coordinates its own programs. Through the Community Development Block Grant Program, for instance, the Department administers financial assistance to community groups, youths, and families.
