Traffic Committee Meeting April 15, 2008
Date: Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Time: 3:00 p.m.
Place: City Hall, Room 314
Management Resource Center

AGENDA

I. REQUEST:

Mary Martin, West Covina Resident

THAT MULTI-WAY STOP BE INSTALLED AT THE INTERSECTION OF MERCED AVENUE AND SOUTH GARVEY AVENUE.

SUMMARY:

The residents primary concern is the odd angle that Merced Avenue intersects with South Garvey. This angle makes it difficult for the drivers entering South Garvey to observe westbound vehicles. A stop sign warrant evaluation was preformed and found that the warrants for a multi-way stop are met. In addition, MUTCD warrants for a traffic signal were also applied and shows that warrants one and two are met.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

THAT STOP SIGNS AND APPROPRIATE PAVEMENT MARKINGS BE PLACED ON EAST AND WESTBOUND APPROACHES OF SOUTH GARVEY AVENUE AT MERCED AVENUE.

THAT THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF MERCED AVENUE AND SOUTH GARVEY AVENUE BE INCLUDED AS PART OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010 CIP PROGRAM.

THAT THIS REPORT BE FORWARDED TO THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK FOR THEIR CONCURRENCE TO INSTALL ADVANCE WARNING SIGNS AND PAVEMENT MARKING ON EASTBOUND SOUTH GARVEY AVENUE.
