I. REQUEST:
William O'Neil, West Covina Resident
THAT PARKING ON CAMERON AVENUE FROM AZUSA AVENUE TO FERNWOOD STREET BE RESTRICTED TO PERMIT ONLY PARKING
SUMMARY:
In response to the request to restrict parking to permit only on Cameron Avenue, a postcard survey of the eleven affected properties was conducted. Nine responses were received with eight (seventy-three percent) of the properties are in favor of the permit only parking, one not in favor, and two did not respond.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT PARKING ON CAMERON AVENUE FROM AZUSA AVENUE TO FERNWOOD STREET BE RESTRICTED TO PERMIT ONLY PARKING.
II. REQUEST:
Libby Loberg, West Covina Resident
THAT PARKING ON FRANCISQUITO AVENUE FROM GLENVIEW ROAD TO 1729 EAST FRANCISQUITO AVENUE BE RESTRICTED TO PERMIT ONLY PARKING.
SUMMARY:
In response to the request to restrict parking to permit only on Francisquito Avenue, a postcard survey of the eleven affected properties was conducted. Seven responses were received with six (fifty-five percent) of the properties are in favor of the permit only parking, one not in favor, and four did not respond.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT PARKING ON FRANCISQUITO AVENUE FROM GLENVIEW ROAD TO 1729 EAST FRANCISQUITO AVENUE BE RESTRICTED TO PERMIT ONLY PARKING.
III. REQUEST:
West Covina Police Department
THAT EAST AND WESTBOUND VEHICLES BE PROHIBITED TO MAKE U-TURNS ON ROWLAND AVENUE AT PHILLIPS AVENUE AND ARMEL DRIVE.
SUMMARY:
Rowland Avenue is an 80-foot wide arterial street with four lanes of travel, parking on both sides, and an 18-foot wide raised median. Traweek School is located on Rowland Avenue and bounded by Phillips Avenue on the west and Armel Drive on the east. It has been requested that u-turn movements be prohibited on Rowland Avenue at Phillips Avenue and Armel Drive. The City has determined that u-turn movements increase the potential for accidents as drivers stop in the number one lane while waiting for a gap in the eastbound flow to complete their movement.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT EAST AND WESTBOUND VEHICLES BE PROHIBITED TO MAKE U-TURNS ON ROWLAND AVENUE AT PHILLIPS AVENUE AND ARMEL DRIVE.
THAT THE TRAFFIC COMMITTEE FINDINGS BE FORWARDED TO THE CITY OF COVINA FOR THEIR CONCURRENCE.
