|A three-day Literary Festival for all ages will be held President's Day Weekend. February 15 to 17 from 12 Noon to 9pm at the West Covina Civic Center Courtyard located at 1444 W. Garvey. This FREE event, for all ages, will include appearances by poets, fiction writers, children’s writers and artists from not only the Los Angeles area, but from around the world.|
One of the poets being featured is Eloise Klein Healey, the newly named post laureate of Los Angeles. Others include Suzanne Lummis, who has been a central figure of Los Angeles; Tony Barnstone; and, international writers, such as T. Anders Carson from Canada and Simon Frueland, one of Denmark’s best-selling fiction writers.
In addition, there will be open microphones so that local writers, including West Covina residents, will have the opportunity to share their own works.
There will be select days that focus on mystery writers, graphic novelists and children’s authors, along with booths for publishers, bookstores, writers, magazines and artists.
On Friday, February 15th, the festival will open at 12 Noon with readings from magazines, writing clubs, and local colleges along with key feature readers, including B.H. Fairchild (winner of the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award), Suzanne Lumis (a central figure of Los Angeles area writers), and T. Anders Carson. Friday’s activities will be conducted until 9:00pm.
On Saturday, February 16th, the festival will feature the poet laureate of Los Angeles. Eloise Klein Healy, along with a number of famous poets, including Tony Barnstone, Christopher Buckley, Laurel Ann Bogen, Gerry Locklin, and James Brown. The children’s area will feature authors and activities from 12 Noon to 4:00pm.
On Sunday, February 17th, the festival will bring a mix of literary authors, poets, and mystery writers such as Aimee Bender, Jeri Westerson, Morgan St. James, and Chiwan Choi. The children’s area will again feature children’s authors and activities from 12 Noon to 4:00pm.
