Enter the New Year with a fresh start and leave last year’s bad luck by joining us in celebrating a 2,000 year old tradition of the Lighting of Lanterns; which marks the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration! The City of West Covina and HK2 presents the First Annual West Covina Lantern Festival to be held at the Hong Kong Plaza, 935 S. Glendora Ave. on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Come join the West Covina City Council at the lantern-lighting ceremony that begins at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. The festival will include activities for children, pony rides, music, a petting zoo, a magician, dance performances, raffle prizes, food and exhibitor booths.
“The City of West Covina is proud to co-host an event that has such a traditional significance to our diverse community, and I encourage all of West Covina to come and celebrate the Chinese New Year,” stated Mayor Steve Herfert. “Hong Kong Plaza and HK2 are very excited to be partnering with the City of West Covina in hosting the City’s very first Lantern Lighting Festival. Come celebrate West Covina’s inaugural ceremony of this 2,000 year old Chinese tradition and the culmination of the Chinese New Year.”
