West Covina Fire Department Web Site
The West Covina Fire Department proudly serves the citizens of our community.
The West Covina Fire Department is responsible for fire suppression, emergency medical service, fire prevention, and providing the community with educational programs. The city maintains five fire stations that are strategically located throughout the city. Staffing five paramedic engine companies and one ladder truck, the fire department requires that twenty-four, highly trained, firefighters be on duty every day of the year. In the event of a major emergency or incident, the fire department can call upon other local fire departments for assistance.
Resources including medi-vac helicopters, hazardous materials teams, swift water rescue teams, Urban Search and Rescue teams, and other additional units can be utilized to better serve the community. In the event of major emergencies outside of our boundaries, the City of West Covina Fire Department is proud to provide resources to help other communities in need throughout California.
As a fire department, we are dedicated to a partnership with the city and offer various award winning community programs. The SEALS drowning prevention program and the FORCE youth mentorship program are both outstanding examples of programs implemented and run by firefighters in our department. Both the SEALS and FORCE programs have had such an impact in our community that they have been recognized by the State of California as Helen Putnam Award winners. The fire department also works closely with our area schools to provide the Urban Survival Schools program. The Urban Survival programs allows firefighters to work closely with teachers to teach young children the principles of basic safety. We also provide anyone the opportunity to observe and participate in several demonstrations and station tours that are conducted throughout the year. The West Covina Fire Department continues to operate a progressive department that encourages community participation and involvement.
