Under general supervision, receives, checks, arranges, stores and issues supplies, materials and equipment; participates in the overall operation of a central warehouse serving city departments; and does related work as required.

Essential Functions
Establishes warehousing standards and procedures.
Plans, organizes, and assists in the receiving, storage, and issuance of warehouse stock.
Supervises and participates in the inspection of shipments received to determine conformity with purchase orders.
Notes and reports shortages, damages and other deviations.
Schedules and participates in the filling of requisitions for supplies.
Schedules and arranges for delivery of orders processed.
Plans and lays out warehouse storage areas and shelf arrangements.
Drives a forklift truck for handling material.
Maintains warehouse records and prepares reports.
Conducts periodic physical inventory.
Qualifications
Experience and Training Guidelines
Qualifying for consideration in the selection process will be based on the description listed above under Knowledge and Abilities, and a combination of the Experience and Education requirements described below.
Experience: One year experience in storeroom or warehousing work. Experience in record keeping, ordering supplies and driving a fork lift.

Incumbents must be able to perform heavy manual labor which includes lifting objects weighing more than So pounds, bending, stooping and climbing.
This position also requires extensive and repetitive physical activity involving the arms, wrists, and hands, including writing and using a keyboard. It also requires physical abilities associated with the ability to read, write and communicate in a work environment requiring no extraordinary physical strength or other special physical qualifications.
