Programs for Children

Baby Bounce Storytime, held on Monday 11:30 a.m., is designed for parents and other caregivers and the babies (ages 4 – 18 months).  With your baby on your lap, you will both enjoy bonding through fun bouncing rhymes, finger plays, and age-appropriate books.

Family Storytime is on Tuesdays 6:00 p.m. Families with children ages 3-8 are welcome to join and enjoy fun stories and activities that foster reading readiness, listening skills, and the joy of books and reading. Kids will complete an art project after every storytime.

Toddler Storytime for children 18 months to 3 years old is held on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. Language development, listening skills, and fun are promoted through music, rhymes, movement activities, and books specially chosen to appeal to this age group.

Page Turners Book Club, for children kindergarten – 2nd grade, meets first Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Books will be available to check out three weeks before the program at the Children’s Desk.

All of these programs are free and open to the public. For more information about these and other children's programs, please contact Mariko Farincci-Gonzalez, Children's Librarian, at (626) 962-3541.

Family Place Play and Learn Area

The Play and Learn Area is designed for babies ages 0-5. Toys and furniture have been selected just the right size for these little ones. There are pretend “Houses and Neighborhood,” “Theater,” “Market,” “Bakery” and more… Parents and care givers are invited to use the space with your child as a chance to bond and enhance their learning experience. The Play and Learn Area is located in the Children’s Room on the second floor.

Programs for Young Adults/Teens

Each month, the Library offers events for young adults/teens (ages 12-18), including video gaming, board and card games, movies, and art projects.

In addition to these events, the Teen Advisory Board meets every first Thursday at 4:00 p.m. This group is open to anyone aged 12-18 who is interested in giving input on library services and materials, including coming up with new programs for teens. This is a great way to get those community service hours while having fun - and eating snacks!

For additional information, please contact Ernest Romero, Teen Services Librarian, at (626) 962-3541.
