The City of West Covina continues to monitor the public health situation associated with COVID-19 and is taking necessary precautions due to the heighten concerns over the spread of COVID-19.  

As the health and safety of our residents is of paramount importance, the City of West Covina has closed City Hall to the public and suspended all City-sponsored events until further notice.  In addition, City facilities have been temporary closed.  Please note the City will continue to operate.  For more information please visit the City’s webpage: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

SCORE Workshop

City of West Covina to Host Free Business Workshop on Starting a Business

WEST COVINA, CA –The City of West Covina and SCORE are hosting a free workshop for businesses and entrepreneurs on “Starting a New Business & Re-energizing an Existing One.” The workshop will be on Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the West Covina City Council Chambers (located at 1444 W. Garvey Avenue South, West Covina, CA 91790).

The workshop will be presented by Mr. Dennis Wright, a SCORE Mentor. Mr. Wright’s career has revolved around business for the last 43 years, which included sales, procurement and management roles. Since 2009, he has put his experience to work as a SCORE volunteer helping more than 300 entrepreneurs and existing business owners with various challenges and opportunities.

Mr. Wright will businesses, entrepreneurs, and current business owners learn about the process and measures to starting a business. Mr. Wright’s presentation will cover identifying the market for your product, creating an effective message that generates sales, and demonstrating the sales process proven to produce results. In addition, he will be discussing ways on how to secure needed funding, avoiding common mistakes made when choosing a business location, and demonstrating how your business should be structures, including registration, licensing, taxes, and insurance. This workshop is a great opportunity for those who are interested in starting a business and want a better understanding of how the process works.
