Lloyd Johnson was born in East Los Angeles in 1950. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and went to serve in Vietnam. Lloyd received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained while serving and returned home in 1968.
Lloyd built his career in construction as a Certified Construction Welder and settled in West Covina, California. He married his wife, Linda, in 1973, and together they had two children; both whom graduated from West Covina High School.
In 2002, Lloyd retired from his career. He has always had an interest and passion for matters that concern his city and has frequently rallied and gathered support for various local causes. Lloyd was nominated and selected to participate in the Los Angeles portion of the Olympic Torch Relay 2004. Lloyd is also a cancer survivor and has fundraised and volunteered his time with various causes and organizations over the years. Most recently, Lloyd actively participated in the City of West Covina’s Host Town Program for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games.
Aside from serving on the West Covina City Council, Lloyd is an active member of The West Covina VFW, West Covina Elks Club, Hurst Ranch Barn Boys, and a lifetime member of the DAV.
