The Cortez Park Community & Senior Center prints a bi-monthly newsletter listing Senior Center classes, activities, upcoming excursions, social services, and much more! You may download and print the newsletter below or pick up at the Cortez Community & Senior Center.

Senior Congregate Meal ProgramThe West Covina Senior Center is an award-winning lunch program that provides a daily lunch service for seniors, Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. The lunch program is funded in part by the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging. Tickets are given on a first-come first-serve basis beginning at 9 a.m to the first 150 participants (180 on Wednesdays).
There is a suggested lunch donation of $2.00 for those 60 years and older. Persons younger than 60 years old pay $4.00.
Cortez Park Community & Senior Center Activities
In addition to an exceptional lunch program, the Senior Center provides a variety of recreational activities and trips, sports programming, support groups, volunteer opportunities, and many other programs for seniors.
Senior Social Services:
The Senior Center has social programs aimed to assist seniors in a wide variety of areas, including: Help in finding home care; transportation; case management; assistance with Social Security and Medicare forms/questions; support groups, etc.
Volunteering: The Senior Center needs volunteers to work with the Nutrition Program, Special Events and much more.
Friday Movies: Each Friday, at 9:15 a.m. seniors are welcome to come and enjoy a movie at the Senior Center, free of charge.
Thursday Evening Dance: Every 1st Thursday of the month from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., live-band dances with light refreshments are held at the Senior Center. The Big Wednesday Band, a local favorite, plays your favorite tunes every month!
- Senior Men's Softball League: Men fifty-five and older are welcome to participate in a slow-pitch softball game held at 9:00 a.m. each Friday morning at Cameron Park. This is not a league team and there are no fees involved, just a group of seniors playing a game for fun and exercise. So bring your mitt and come on out.
Recreation Classes: The Senior Center also provides a wide range of recreation classes, including Zumba, line dancing, computer classes, driver safety, Tai Chi, yoga, and much more. Low Income Senior Waste Collection Discount
The City of West Covina and Athens Services offer a 25% reduction rate on waste collection fees. Offer applies to West Covina residents ONLY, low-income seniors 62 years or older residing in single family homes. The maximum allowable gross household income ranges from $54,250 to $102,300, based on household size. For assistance please contact Cortez Park Community and Senior Center at (626) 331-5366.
